With the Holidays coming I will be doing my shopping at Off The Vine. This is an excellent small business to support. They have gift baskets, and can order cases of wines from smaller vineyards that give your gifts a unique feel. I love to entertain, and off the vine is an excellent place to shop for reasonably priced wines to pair with a meal. When in doubt they are extremely helpful.

I attended the Grand Re-Opening Party (read: celebration!) on Feb. 2nd. It was a fun event with great food, music, wine, and friends. If you went in expecting a stuffy wine tasting event with chamber music, you would have been disappointed - that is not how this place was rolling. The party area was just that! Nice to see so many people out supporting a family owned small business. The selection of wine for purchase in the shop is varied and eclectic as they support smaller craft wineries along with some "name brands". The gift baskets are nicely done and can fit any budget. The decor is hip and not off-putting at all. I have been to many a wine establishment where I was made to feel 'not worthy' by the resident Wine Police - not here! I look forward to attending an event for a learning experience in the future, but this night was to celebrate. That's what this 50-something did!

I'm really happy to say that I like what is going on here. It's really a place all about wine for the general public. Prices are reasonable, and there is a value added service about supporting a locally owned organization. They have a great Spanish selection, and it's nice to see these types of establishments making an impression on San Pedro.

This has got to be the best place for miles around to browse & buy wines. The range is enormous, the prices are really reasonable, & the owners (Michael & Alison) are really helpful & friendly. They have pointed out some wines, & even some varietals, that I would never have thought of. What is more, they regularly have really inexpensive & fun wine tastings. Get on their email list! In May they hosted San Pedro's second wine festival, and it was a huge success. I wish them all the very best, & I will be in often to see them & shop.

Very nice place to purchase/taste wine. It is always fun to drive over to San Pedro and get out of the familiar LBC to do some wine tasting. The shop is small and it doesn't have much curb appeal, but the owner makes up for it with his enthusiasm for wine. There are several interesting restaurants in the area, including some that will waive the corkage fee if you purchase a bottle from OTW. My only complaint about OTW is their poor quality wine glasses, I always bring my own.

I love Off the Vine!! Michael and Alison are so friendly.. I love the wine tasting and the great people you meet. I have been there with just 2 girlfriends and other times with 10+ girls looking to wine taste and enjoy the night.. I have a great time.. EVERY time.. The staff is friendly and very informative about the wines we are tasting.. Sunday sampling is great!! For a mother that just wants to get away for a few hours.. This is the place I pick.. Thank you Off the Vine and I will see you guys soon!

Best Wine shop around! Owners are friendly, knowledgeable and prices are very reasonable. Try their Wine of the Month club- cheaper than most competitors and the wines are fabulous!

My low-ish score is only because I was here quickly. I stopped in while waiting for something else and had a quick tasting. This is a very cozy place and the ladies there at the time were very friendly and accommodating. I look forward to going back sometime!

Off the Vine is great for the experienced wine taster and the novice! I am one of those people who can stare at all the wine options in the grocery store forever without having any clue which one to pick... thanks to Off the Vine, I no longer have to waste my time! The owner is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to give advice and recommendations. Wine tasting here is very cozy and relaxing, with tasting themes that change from week to week. It is a great place for a date or an evening with friends. They also often have special events that coincide with other happenings (plays, etc) in San Pedro.

Great place to sit with friends and enjoy a wine flight. Reasonable prices for tastings. Comfortable. Michael and Allison are very knowledgeable and friendly. Nice selection of wines in a variety of price ranges to suit everyone! We go when ever we can!

A lot can be said for a small business as compared to the larger chain stores. I may save a few cents if I go to stores that buy in volume or there may be a larger selection but what I don't get is the personalized service that a small business owner provides. At Off The Vine, you get just that, a level of personalized services to help me in making the best choices in my wine selections. Where else can you go where the person assisting you makes it a point to learn about your likes and dislikes before guiding you in your selection. Well Michael does just that and over time he has come to understand my flavor palate so I trust his judgment when there is something new I want to try. Michael and Ally is the epitome of what a small business should be as they understand the meaning of what customer service is about...

I will continue to post 5 star ratings of this business- keep in mind that I update my review every 20 or so times I experience their amazing service, welcoming atmosphere and truly great vibe. Mike and Ally have partnered with me on several events, and are my go-to vendor for all things wine. They are the type of people that will go to the end of the earth to assist a customer and to ensure a great experience.

This is a rather small place but the staff is really great. They dont have that large of a selection of wine and the small plates were just ok but the atmosphere on a Saturday night was suberb. They had this Cool guitar trio which really complemented the wine and cheese.

This is a great place when you want to keep it low key and cozy. This is a totally unpretentious place with an intimate feel and nice soft lighting. Nice ambiance without the upscale prices. The owners Alie, Mike and staff are super nice. You will feel very comfortable relaxing, chatting, drinking and eating delicious gourmet plates that Alie creatively puts together. If you or someone in your group don't drink it's ok, they have non alcoholic beverages and great food to enjoy. Mike is super knowledgeable about wines and on Saturday nights they usually have great live music. Quite a variety of musicians come through their doors. Highly recommend. Great neighborhood find.

In theory this place is great. I love the idea of San Pedro having a wine and tapas bar, very chic and something that doesn't already exist. However it is a bit on the expensive side. the quality of wine is good there, however every bottle i have brought home has been corked. I am all for paying for good wine, but to pay a lot of money for a good bottle only to have to throw the whole bottle out is so sad. I have never done a tasting there so I'm not sure if the bottle they are pouring are better but defiantly be careful when purchasing a bottle. you might get ripped off like i did.

My girlfriend and I ate her late on a Friday and the service was excellent. The wine tasting was so perfect with an old world vs new world theme and the food was very unique and tasty. The owner and staff were very attentive, knowledgeable and willing to do anything to please. The dining area could feel more cozy as you feel like you are still in a retail environment vs a casual restaurant since this is half retail wine shop and half dining. The background music was mainly in the retail side and made conversation in the dining area very reserved. So my 2 suggestions would be to add speakers in the dining area so that it is not so quiet and to warm up the dining area. With the small space, the ceiling could be lower and use better decoration. However my girlfriend disagrees and feels that ambiance is fine. We will be back since everything else was amazing. Keep up the good work!

Off the Vine provided all libations for our wedding and they were awesome! We had our ceremony and reception at CRAFTED and wanted as many local vendors as possible. Turns out, were practically neighbors! We worked closely with Michael, who helped coordinate all of the details. He went above and beyond to ensure plenty of selection for our guests with wine, beer and non alcoholic beverages.

atmosphere : Like a typical wine store with high and low tables for tasting and noshing. Extremely HOT inside. No water offered, could not sit next to swamp cooler because I was wearing contacts. They would not open the door to help circulate the air. I sat there fanning myself most of the time and they just acted like the place was 60 degrees even when we asked for them to open the door. Purchsaed a Groupon... MISTAKE do not buy a groupon for this place (see last paragraph) White wines were spectacular and lately I am not a huge white wine fan. Their red's offered to us neither my friend or I could appreciate. The meat and cheese platter was enough for a tasting but not enough for an appetizer. We really enjoyed the meats and cheeses offered as pairing. We ordered the salmon appttizer and there was much too much green onion inside the cream cheese and on top and it was overwhelming so my friend ate my poriton too that we asked no onions on top. The meat and the white wines were the best part of the experience. Service. Meh. There was one other two-some of women in there when we arrived and we were told we must have a reservation. Why? The place was EMPTY only one other couple showed up at the end when we were finished. The tasting took FOREVER.. they wait wayyy toooo long between sips. Litterally they pour sips. I could not have made a genuine effort to buy a bottle with the amount that they offered You will receive less than an ounce. I like to be able to actually taste the wine, sip it, swirl it in my mouth. There was not enough wine poured to do this so we didn't purchase anything to go. The bill arrives... . The Groupon.. so they took our groupon at the beginning then charge a $17 food tax on top of the groupon We only ordered $7.00 worth of food and the tax on the food was $17.00??? There is nothingh in the fine print on the groupon saying there is sales tax charged on the top of the groupon so Groupon Buyer Beware. We will not be going back after this experience. I belong to a few other wine clubs and actually used Groupons in other places and was never charged a food tax on top of the groupon. Not a great practice to entice people to come back.

Cool little wine tasting place in Pedro. We did the wine tasting and I think there was 7 wines total and they all tasted great. We got a salad and a flat bread and split them. There were only two people serving the whole place and when we arrived a bunch of other people came in so the servers were swamped. I know it's not their fault but it took us quite a while to get our wines and our check. Other than that I would definitely recommend this place! Also if you have their groupon they only accept it if you call and make a reservation first. As far as I know the groupon didn't say anything about making a reservation. Kind of annoying. Guess we'll have to go back!

I don't VINE the wine here I joined a wine meet-up group a couple years ago so I could learn more about wine, what I like and hopefully could maybe be able to order something while at dinner or out with friends. This group is SOOO AWESOME! We just recently split the group a bit into the "Contributing Members" that do more exclusive events and the "Non-Contributing Members" that get to do the normal events. I'm a regular member. I didn't want to contribute because my schedule gets pretty busy at times and I would not always be able to make events that I am pre-paid for so it doesn't make since for me to just throw money away. We usually try to meet-up at different wine bars in and around the Long Beach area. Sometimes they are newly opened and sometimes they are just our groups favorite wine bar spots. A few members will even open up their homes and we will do wine tasting with light o'horderves there. It's a lot of fun and I'm always meeting new peeps that join or maybe couldn't make it out to other events, etc. Never any cray-cray over the top drinkers that don't know there limits, get loud, or drunk or can't drive themselves home. This event was for a new wine bar a bit out of our wine tasting zone but not too bad since it is just over the bridge from DTLB. It's a cosy little place with one long table and a few large wine barrels for tables. There is also a little sofa in case you want to sit there. You are surrounded by all sorts of wine paraphilia so there is no mistaking where you are! The place is pretty small and cosy! The owner was UBER NICE and very accommodating to our group and gave us a 6 glass tasting which came with cheese and crackers and your own personal flatbread pizza which was a lot of food. Since the place is a bit small we all pre-paid for our tasting so the owner would know how many peeps were coming and how much food to have for us. It was a REALLY NICE touch! I ended up getting there a bit late because the start of my day was pushed back a few hours for SUP'ing and lunch! Plus I needed to go home and take a shower so I didn't smell like Shamu the whale from all the salt water. Not really the look I was going for, for my wine event! I also couldn't pre-pay for my tasting because I had lost my debit card a couple weeks before and it took longer than expected to get it. Once there I was greeted WARMLY and I told them I was just going to get a glass of wine which was no problem. It was so FRICKIN hot out STILL at 7pm in the evening so I went with a cool Sparkling Brut Rose which was DELISH and cool since rose tend be chilled which was perfect. My friend got a cab. It was beautiful and deep red. We chatted it up with the other members and enjoyed our selection. My meeting organizer noticed my empty glass THANK GAWD and called me over! She had some more of Sparkling Prosecco left and wanted me to try it. I LOVE Prosecco so I was OH SO HAPPY to accommodate her request. Just as I thought YUM, YUM, YUMMY! Toward the end there was STILL MORE Prosecco left so this time my friend got to try. Now this is a person that is normally NOT a white or sparkling person but when I tell you it went down smooth without any issues! Plus I was on standby incase their taste buds revolted but no such luck for me! We finished off the night with a couple waters but not food! Looking at the yelp pics and hearing my fellow wine connoisseur they food was PRETTY GOOD so I look forward to coming back and giving it a try. Parking is tight with ONLY being metered street parking nearby, but it is FREE (my favorite F-word) on Sunday's which is not bad at all. If your will to walk a bit you can also find some non-metered parking. Thanks for an AWESOME night for me and my wine meetup group!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after having to cancel plans to visit wineries in Temecula. We weren't about to give up on drinking wine altogether so we ended up checking this place out after reading all the positive reviews here. The place was empty when we came in but we were warmly greeted by the owners. My friend and I ordered the wine tasting for $15 (cheaper for wine club members) while B. enjoyed a couple of beers. We ordered cheese sandwiches from their menu and they were to die for! You get to choose 2 cheeses and either peppers or onions to be melted onto a fresh warm roll of french bread paired with a fresh salad. My friend and I mentioned that we wanted to share a cheese sandwich and, without asking, they placed our order on separate plates, which we thought was really nice! As for the wine and beer: B. loved his IPA and Samuel Smith. My friend and I tasted 5 different wines. The wine tasting itself did not meet our expectations. The wines themselves weren't anything exciting and it was not until towards the end that the owner who was pouring us the wine talked to us more about what we were drinking. For the first couple of wines, he would just pour us the wine and walk away without telling us much about it. Maybe because we were expecting the experience of wine tasting at a winery vs. wine tasting at this small wine shop that felt it was just OK. During our visit there were a few couples who came in to enjoy some glasses of wine, chatting away. Some of the reviews here mentioned that this was a good place to hang out and meet some locals over a bottle of wine. However, perhaps because we are on the younger side of the age demographic (early 20s), we felt out of place. Overall, this is a lovely place with very friendly owners, beautiful and delicious food and a nice selection of wines to choose from. We weren't impressed with the wines they currently have for their wine tasting but I think this is the kind of place where you could describe what kind of flavors you would want and they would be great at recommending a bottle for you. Also, there is metered street parking outside.

Amazing find! Went with my boyfriend and his family and everything was delicious! Loved the private and exclusive feel of this place too. Was a bit worried they wouldn't have enough food to satisfy us but couldn't be more wrong! Owners were sweet and live musician was lovely. We'll definitely be back! :)

The food is great. Mike one of the owners not so great when their establishment is busy. He doesn't work well with pressure & stress, tends to react in a negative light. They should hire someone to manage on there busy night which is (Saturday) My opinion! 3 stars because the only great thing about this place is the food & bands they just started bringing in on Saturday nights. Location is horrible, can be quite scary with all the random crazy people walking around from the weed dispensary.

Apparently the owner doesn't take criticism well and sees fit to send threatening emails with people who don't agree with his unwillingness to even listen to customers. He sent me this but didn't publish it publicly. This is a testament to his attitude. Instead of inviting me in to prove himself as a wine tasting establishment in a different setting, he decides to threaten anyone who leaves unfavorable emails. As Linda L. of Long Beach mentions in an earlier review: "Seems the owners of Off The Vine do not take criticism very well. I have been sent numerous nasty emails and threats from the owners. Not too sure why a business would act this way. But please stop your nasty threatening emails. I am entitled to my opinion whether it be one or five stars. Thank you." Here was my threatening email: Michael K. has sent you a message on Yelp: Your Review "Sorry you felt it necessary to set up a Yelp account just to bash our business. Says more about you than it does about us. A lot of folks in this town are very happy we are back in full swing along with our friends at the Redman's Hall. You basically asked us to alter our event to fit what you thought it should be because you did not read the full e-mail. Had someone requested I turn the music up even louder should I have done so because they are a customer? And how are we to take your comment about knowing people in the city and the chamber? Is that a threat? This is more of a vendetta than a legitimate review. Pathetic really and not very neighborly. You would think living in the downtown area you would be thrilled to have a business like ours in town. Oh well, it is your loss. We prefer to concentrate on the folks that appreciate people that invest their hard earned money in Downtown San Pedro. Like Joe Buscaino's office. You are welcome to join us anytime in the future and I look forward to seeing you at the Business Open House at the Vue on February 24th."

The owners and selection of wine is great. The location is still being modified. They're working out the last kinks to get the cheese and platters portion finalized. The people you meet there are great and very San Pedro friendly locals.

Was talking to my co-worker about wines and since we both live in San Pedro, Off the Vine came up in our conversation. Since my co-worker was helping me, I wanted to thank him by purchasing a wine that he'd enjoyed. Went to visit Off the Vine and met Michael and Alison, the owners of the shop who were both very NICE! My friend had liked the Croatian wines, so Michael picked a bottle that was popular and affordable. I will definitely go back to Off the Vine for my future wine purchases...please support our local businesses in San Pedro!

Summary: A nice winery-style tasting experience in downtown San Pedro. Reasonable prices, a large variety of wines from many regions (including less familiar ones like Serbia and Croatia), friendly staff, and tasty food make this a great place to come enjoy a flight, a bite, or a glass of wine while relaxing in a casual but elegant atmosphere. My wife and I went here for the first time on a Friday at around 6pm after being given a gift card from our friends as congratulations for my wife's completion of her PhD studies. They had loved going themselves, so they wanted to share the experience with us. We found parking on 6th Street (parking is free after 6pm), and made our way inside. The room is temperature controlled to be nice and comfortable inside; quiet but with some ambient music and conversation of other guests and regulars. We sat at a table and were greeted by a woman that must be Alison based on all of the previous reviews. She gave us the rundown about tastings being $15 for six 1.5 ounce pours that change each week. This week, there were two whites and four reds. She also told us about the beer list, the food items, and some of the special things they do on Thursdays, for happy hour, etc. We each ordered a flight and began our tasting. Some wines were ok, and some were really good. Throughout, we were attended by both Alison and Michael, and they were very friendly. The bruschetta with goat cheese was delicious, and the two glasses of wine we ordered after our flights were also excellent. We look forward to our next visit.

I finally made it to off the vine. What a great treat. The owners are super knowledgeable and friendly. And the wine pairing with the cheese and meats . I enjoyed every bit of it great flavor . I also tried their flatbread pizza with caramelized onions and arugula with a balsamic reduction. I will be going back just to get the pizza for snacking it's so good. They have live entertainment and The owners are super nice and really make you feel at home. One of the best experiences I've had in San Pedro yet. Delicious food and wine wonderful pleasant genuine hospitality and impeccable service..it's a very warm and inviting environment definitely worth your time to check it out

This place is truly a hidden gem. My bf and I stopped by here on our way home after dinner one night. We had driven by it before and had been meaning to come by. So glad we did! We both did the tasting which we enjoyed very much. We also got a glass of wine each afterwards. They have wines by the glass or bottle, beer and food as well. We had just eaten dinner so we passed on the food but they all sounded really good. I'll try the food next time. I'm so glad it's close to home. I'll definitely be going back soon! :)

If you're looking for good quality and even unusual wines, Off the Vine is the best choice not just in the Harbor area, but even the South Bay. The owners, Michael and Alison, are knowledgeable and spend a lot of time searching out what's best. And they've got a good selection of craft beers, as well. But Off the Vine has become much more than a wine shop. With the expansion of its kitchen, it's a full fledged tapas bar. Great selection of cheeses tailored to accompany the wine or beer you might choose. The pizzas are hand crafted with creative ingredients. Sandwiches are tasty and enticing. Drop by during San Pedro's art walk on the first Thursday of each month and there are deals on wine tastings. Drop by any weekend and there's eclectic music. Always enjoyable and always just right for a good glass of wine and some tapas

Still love this place. Love the wine, love the atmosphere, and most of all love the people! From the owners to the wine club members, it's always a great time at Off the Vine. Since their re-grand opening in February, Off the Vine offers more than just wine and tapas. Their sandwiches are tasty and have great "local" names. The portions are good, so bring your appetite. Or you can share with a friend. If you don't know what sandwich to get, you and a friend can order a couple and then split them. My favorites are the Ghost Fish (tuna) sandwich (add the cheese please) and the OTV House. Alison is also open to suggestions, so if you have a certain craving, she can make your salivating dreams come true. They also offer coffee and other unique drinks for friends that are not big into wine or crafted beer. I love to come by here on my lunch break or just after work to unwind. They have great happy hour prices during the week and offer sandwich combo specials. Next time you want to meet up with some friends over some great wine or beer, think of Off the Vine!

My husband and I came here for wine tasting. We had a great time! Great choices on wine and the cheese/olives. One of the items had too strong a taste and without me asking, Michael (the owner) offered to bring a different one. Will def go back!

This is a cool little place with a very friendly staff and a bunch of Wino customers hanging out in a little living room style drinking area. It's like having a few drinks with friends in your home. A great thing about Off the Vine is that it's walking distance from our Apartment and open pretty late for a wine bar; making it easy to walk around downtown, maybe grab a bite to eat, and finish off with a couple glasses of wine. This place introduced me to my first glass of Tincho and I have been experimenting with it ever since. We tried to take a big group of our friends to Off the Vine last weekend but sadly they were on Vacation... Everyone was sad but we will be back. :)

I love this place and it has become a regular Friday evening stop. My husband and I are wine novices but have seriously grown in our knowledge and passion for the grape thanks to Mike and Alison. We joined their wine club back in February and love the weeky wine tastings they put together. As well as the great wines they serve, their menu is delicious. We like to mix it from week to week between one of their delicious sandwiches and their meat and cheese trays. Since I never know what meat and cheese works well with the week's featured wines, Alison is always willing to make the best pairing. There are many great sandwiches to chose from on the menu. I love the ghost fish sandwich and my husband's favorite is the Shanghai Red which is full of delicious meat and cheese. Its a creation on of the regular clients came up with and has really taken off and will soon be on the menu. The goat cheese appetizer drizzled with an excellent tasting olive oil and capers is another favorite. They load you up with lots of crackers so there's always lots to eat. You never know what they might be serving in addition to the regular menu and wine. Last night Alison whipped up an out of this world bleu cheese spread flavored with just the right amount of garlic and we used pretzels to dip. IT SUCH A TREAT AND ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I can't say enough about OTV, they have opened my husband and I up to a whole new world of wine, cheese, meat, and great new friends who all share the same passion for sitting back, enjoying life and relaxing with a great glass of vino.

Had a nice experience here at Off the Vine. Wine Selection fairly priced and good selection of Tapas. Very laid back and i like this spot in Pedro.

This place is amazing and brings true value to San Pedro. It offers wine tastings every Friday and Saturday and on First Thursday and I try to make it to every one of them. The best part about the wine shop is the atmosphere. Michael and Alison are very friendly to everyone and can tell you a lot about their wines and find you a wine that fits your tastes. I love coming in because every time I come, I learn something new about wine. Their wine selection is very good and they really try to find things that customers enjoy. The first time I came to visit them was the first day they opened and I was looking for a Zin. They only had two at the time but the one they recommended was fantastic. After a few weeks they had a Zin tasting and they brought in over 10 good new bottles. It shows that they listen to their customers and try to raise the bar every week, even when they already are the best wine shop in San Pedro.

I recently went to the "Zin Fest" at Off the Vines. The selection of wines were great and different. Also, they had a spread of meats, cheeses, veggies and chocolate. The people running this place were extremely nice, informative and accommodating. The only problem with this place is its really small, i mean really small, and its hard to find a place to stand while wine tasting as it gets pretty packed in there. Hopefully their business will do well enough to buy out the space next door and open the place up for seating.

This is not a real winery. It's a very small place with uncomfortable seating. The worker there doesn't know aoything about wine tasting and how to entertain guests. The wine was nothing to die for or drive for. He offers stale Ritz crackers! Overall, not a good place to wine taste. Would never go back.

Having Off the Vine in my own backyard is so appreciated. Michael and Allison are not only knowledgeable but have created a very friendly, family like vibe. Wine tasting at Off the Vine is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon...taking home a great bottle or two won't put a dent in the budget either...actually I took home 4!

Seems the owners of Off The Vine do not take criticism very well. I have been sent numerous nasty emails and threats from the owners. Not too sure why a business would act this way. But please stop your nasty threatening emails. I am entitled to my opinion whether it be one or five stars. Thank you.

I finally visited this place after always saying that I wanted to try it. I am trying to get into wine, but am much more of a beer girl. I really do not know much about wine, so I came in for the $5 tasting on first Thursdays and to see what this place was all about. I was pleasantly surprised by the beer list, but forced myself to drink some wine. My husband and his friends tried a few beers they enjoyed. We also got the goat cheese arugula flat bread which was really tasty, though a tad pricey. It is an older crowd, which doesn't bother me. I did feel a bit out of place though, probably because I am such a beginner when it comes to wine. I wish I could have gotten more wine explanations and maybe just learned more with the tasting and choosing of what to drink, but they were pretty busy and there were definitely a lot of people that were regulars. It is a shame that the area has so many druggies and weirdos passing through. Our downtown area sometimes reminds me of how downtown LA is. You have some good restaurants and bars mixed in with some bad ones, and then you get some shady folks lingering outside or in allies. It is a historical area with some great old buildings so I hope that changes one day. I love the quaint vibe of this small, relaxing shop and think it is a great family owned place here in San Pedro. You can really tell the owners love what they do. I hope to come back with friends or family to do another tasting one day.

Just love this place and the owners too! I love to pop by after work grab a bite and and deliciously well paired glass of wine while I watch a local musician play! Also I have never been recommended a bottle of wine I did not like! Went there before I headed to a BBQ and the wines I brought were a hit with all the BBQ patrons! Love this place!

A wonderful hidden gem in San Pedro !!! Weekly wine tasting for $10 ... We are members and come every week... The wine if the month club they offer is amazing !!! Thre hand crafted bottles and for 38 bucks that's great!!! They have an amazing selection of meats and cheese as well as hand made pizza and gourmet sandwiches!! They have live music and special event every week... Great tasting with sommeliers and private vineyards ... If u live in South Bay this is the best place to come for the best prices the people are great and the services is amazing !!! I am always late and Mike always makes sure I have a table .... My favorite place for food and wine hands down!!!

Went for a wine tasting with the girls and came home with a bottle of a featured Cabernet. We had a plate of cheeses with all the acoutrements; almonds, olives and quince paste. The owner was super nice and well versed in his wines. He gave us full background on each glass that was poured and regaled us with stories about some of the winemakers who were featured. Couldn't ask for a better place to for a cozy and unpretentious lesson in wine appreciation.

I not only had the pleasure of eating and drinking here, I also was hired to be their live entertainment on a Saturday night. Alie and Michael (the owners) are warm and inviting. The place is comfortable and stocked with everything wine. My experience was pleasant and the patrons all seemed to be "part of the family". Definitely support this up and coming local business, you won't be disappointed!

Not being much of a wine wonk but surrounded by friends who are, I am continuously going to Mike and Ali for recommendations. Not only are they helpful, they're consistently on the money when it comes to matching the wine with the person or occasion. They know most of their regulars by name and preferences, but everyone who ventures in feels like a long-time friend. Amazing cache of wonderful and, sometimes, obscure selections. Don't hesitate to ask for help and try a wine tasting for a real treat and evening of fun.

I heart San Pedro. As my adopted home, I've grown the love the people and places that make up this hidden treasure. 3 summers ago, as I was walking around on First Thursdays, I kept meeting this really nice couple who were talking about opening up a wine store in downtown San Pedro. I smiled at them and wished them well. But, by gum, they did it. Off The Vine opened and has been a true benefit to San Pedro. And I have been remiss in not writing a review of them. Cuz I also heart wine. I can't afford the really, really good stuff, but I enjoy a nice glass of wine. And I know that I can go into Off the Vine and come out with a nice (and if I have the scratch, a really nice ) bottle of wine as a present or just to enjoy with my dinner. Michael and Alison really know their wine and more importantly, they are good at articulating why they like that wine. Off The Vine has tastings most Thursdays thru Sundays, and also host special events in partnership with local restaurants. Their wine club is fantastic. They select 3 wines a month and for me, it's always a treat to try those new wines. Everybody has their own favorites in wine, but at the same time, I firmly believe in trying new things keeps me young. So if you are near San Pedro and want to try some different wines, you really need to visit Off The Vine.

Michael Koth has built right in the middle of Pedro the best wine shop in the South Bay. And believe me, I have tried them all. It is small, not more than several hundred wines being offered, but each one is a gem, well selected and well priced. How does Off the Vine compete with Trader Joe's, Vons and BevMo? Simple- he does not compete at all. He sells nothing they have to sell. And what he sells they do not offer. Most of the wine sold are local wines (as local goes around here), Central Coast and especially Santa Barbara County wines. Go to Santa Barbara and you will not find a better selection -- and prices there are higher than in Pedro. If you are looking for plonk and normally drink "two buck chuck," do not bother going in. This is a shop for people who enjoy real wine and are willing to spend between $10-25 a bottle. They do outreach, they do tastings, but the bottom line is that this is simply the best place in town to pick up a bottle from the Santa Inez Valley that your guest has never heard of, and after tasting it, wants more. You look good, it tastes good. If you live anywhere in the South Bay, add this one to your list. As wine shops go, this one will blow you away.

This place is great. The owners, Alison and Michael, are really nice and passionate about their wines. The place is very clean and has a great relaxing atmosphere for wine tasting. I've gone to only one wine tasting on a Sunday, but enjoyed myself so much with my friends that we plan to go again. The owners also the love the city and can recommend places to visit! A great find!

Off the Vine is a fun place to gather and chat with strangers in the community while sampling a variety of wines. We are not wine snobs by any means, so we enjoy sampling the different wines. Off the Vine offers so many offerings from small wineries that aren't in the big stores, which we appreciate, and the monthly wine tastings are definitely enjoyable. We are Wine Club members here and love that the owners know us by name and that we get a free tasting every month (just another reason why this is one of my favorite places in San Pedro!). It's a quaint place, but easy to sit and enjoy the company of others or just run in and pick up a bottle of wine before dinner. We've taken a bottle of wine across the street to the Chophouse (where they waive corkage for Off the Vine wines). We even had a birthday gathering here and it was so much fun. The owner poured us wine (Mike selected what he thought were good values for under $20 per bottle) and served us cheese plates. We sat around playing games and enjoying the wines, while Mike made sure we had enough wine to go around. He opened new bottles at appropriate times and kept us all happy.

I'm surprised by all the glowing reviews of this place. I guess to be fair Michael is a nice enough guy and knowledgeable but, the selection is limited and the value is not that great. I'm glad they are in town I only wish they'd expand the selection and be a bit more competitive in pricing. If you're serious about your wines and don't mind a bit of a drive i'd suggest the wine house in west LA or Hi Times in Orange County. Both have expansive selections from around the world and helpful knowledgeable staff. Off the vine is ok only because they're the ONLY wine shop in town.

Kids took me here to show off their favorite place in SoCal to taste wines close to home. Been trying to make it in for a year and a half now...trips are always so packed we hadn't made it to date, til last night. Wow this place is awesome. Warm and woodsy and the proprietor Michael, so friendly and warm too. You can buy a bottle of wine and then drink it on the premesis - NO CORKAGE FEE! I hear they may be offering tapas in the near future-ole! Any who, this is the place to buy a bottle and then take it to the Chop House one block away, no corkage fee if you show them your tag on the bottle : ) I could see meeting friends on a Friday nite for a bottle; nice seating arrangements and a knowledgeable proprietor that will answer your questions about the wonderful world of wine! *smile*

We found this little gem of a place through the Yelp Events page for their "Summer Beer Tasting." The place was surprisingly filled with people lounging around tasting both wine and beer. We received about 8 or so samples (some were 'surprise' in that they weren't on the list provided). The two owners of the store are two of the nicest people you could meet. They were friendly and knowledgeable, and eager to share their love of the products they sell with others. I could not have felt more welcome and at home in this place. It wasn't too quiet, but quiet enough you could easily enjoy conversation with those that you're with. They have a large selection of wines and a wine club. I definitely plan on going back to buy some wine.

Wow I happened upon this place about four mouths ago. The food is outstanding and the owners are warm and friendly. Join the the wine club and the tastings are only ten bucks! I visit them every Friday and have met some super nice people. Oh the meat and cheese plate is GREAT!!

What a great place. Michael & Alison are wonderful hosts. My husband and I went in before seeing a musical across the street at The Warner Grand and we had a great bottle of wine. Their prices are excellent and their knowledge, impressive. We have some great places in Pedro, let's support our local businesses.

WHAT a fun night the Grand Reopening party was at Off the Vine on Saturday. We've been members of this fantastic wine club for several years and have missed them while they were close., As did all of their members!. It was wonderful seeing everyone! Great party, great food, great people and as always GREAT WINE! We're looking forward to future tastings but in the meantime time, Ali and Mike threw one heck of a fun party! Thanks guys..you are the best!! Anyone looking for some help with a fundraising event should definately talk to these two. We did an event for Jane Goodall that they poured wine, beer and soda for us and we received lots of compliments!

I love small family owned businesses! I have been in several times but the most recent time I came in was for a groupon deal for wine tasting and charcuterie. The wines were explained thoroughly and were all very good. The charcuterie was great as well, I loved the sweet apricot spread that came in addition to the meat and cheese. We also enjoyed the smoked salmon app as well as a flatbread. I forget the name of the flatbread but it had Brie and arugula and we fell in love! We were informed about there wine club and it sounded both interesting and affordable, plus it came highly recommended by a fellow diner. I will be joining the next time I come in.

What a gem! We did an afternoon wine tasting. I almost never finish my wine, but enjoyed every wine we sampled in combination with the charcuterie. It was wonderful to learn about wines from Croatia, and enjoy a diverse blend of whites and reds. They are knowledgeable and provide interesting facts, but in a way that is very welcome, enhances your experience, then allows you to enjoy time with friends in between rounds. We did not feel rushed. This is a wonderful place to check out. It is very nice for a group of friends or a date (hint if you are looking for date ideas in san pedro!). The best part is, you will be able to take home several bottles of your favorite wine because they are very reasonably priced!

Very quaint establishment in downtown San Pedro. walked in following the Farmer's Market on Friday while I was waiting on a friend get off work. Friendly owners (assumed) and a lady with a lovely smile working in the kitchen who I also assumed was the other owner. I was the only one sitting in the lounge decorated walls decorated with wine cases and corks. An added surprise was the music playing and old LP's hanging on the walls. all from my high school days, so owners must be about my age. A nice gem in San Pedro. They change their tasting menu every Friday and this week there are six 1.5 ounce tastings for $15. Let me check on that price. Drank Sparkling Veuve de Vernay "Brut Rose" before I learned about the tasting flights. Small plates and tapas including flatbreads aroma filled the room.

Great find! So down to earth. The owners are very knowledgable and kind, not pretentious at all like you would expect from a wine bar. My husband did a wine tasting and even enjoyed the wines that he usually doesn't care for. The food is delicious, meant more for complementing your wine or evening then for a full meal. Definitely recommended and we will be back when we are in town again. We shared the tunas stuffed peppers. My husband had the sausage flatbread and I had the Brie and gig flatbread. All were amazing.

Not the usual spot in San Pedro. Out of a lot of the beer selection and some ingredients for the dining selections, but overall a really nice place, and even more so for SP. Gracious & sweet hosts and servers. The food menu is the usual - cheese & flatbreads. Pretty good selection of wines and beers. A good place for the locals. Nice, clean restaurant, good ambiance.

Love this hidden gem!!! Appetizers are great and I'm not big on wine but there beer selection is great! It's a great place to go relax or have a great time. My wife and I usually stop in the afternoon for a bite and some beer and wine. They also have great live music Saturday nights!!!

Great local wine shop. Owned by locals who make you feel like you're at home every time you come in. They have a great selection that ranges from good every day drinker bottles to nice events and they won't break your bank. I'm a unique wine club member and it has yet to disappoint. :)

I've been a wine club member at Off the Vine for nearly two years, and it has been a wonderful experience. The weekly tastings are always a great way to sample new vintages, and the owners are always there to lend a helping hand in selecting the perfect wine for any occasion. They have helped me select wines for gifts, picnics, formal events, friends' barbecues, and many other events. First Thursday is always a great party, with a nice selection of wines by the glass. The Grand Re-opening Party on Feb. 2 was great - the DJ played lots of "oldies" on two 45 RPM turntables, and then a good mix of dance music. A dozen or so of us danced well into the night. As a member, admission was $10, which included two glasses of wine or three beers. The wine selection was not the best I've seen from the owners, but for $5/glass (plus included hours d'ouvres), I can't really complain. The beer selection included Stone IPA, a delicious premium beer -- where else are you going to get that for $3.33/bottle (plus free hors d'ouvres)? Congrats on getting everything done! I've been in a few times in the last month and it's always a blast!

I just got home from Off the Vine's beer tasting event... which is ironic, because I am a wine lover who is not much for beer. However, since my goal for the summer is to learn to like beer, I had to give it a shot. Man, the beers were not bad! They had a nice selection of German, Belgian, and English beers, and I actually kind of enjoyed several--trust me, kind of enjoyed is progress! The others in my group, including Vanessa F., really liked most of the beers offered. We tasted about 8... awesome for $10 each! The owners are super nice and know a lot about beer... I can only imagine how much they know about wine! The shop itself is SO cute, and I love their tasting area. They have a few tables with bar stools and a small couch area. It's adorable! The shop carries TONS of wines, including those familiar to me and many that were not. They have wines from all over, it seems! Best of all, their prices are reasonable! For my husband and I, this is huge... because wine is our weakness! They have a wine club that costs $35 for 3 bottles--that's just under $12 a bottle. Finally, a wine club we might be able to afford! We didn't taste or purchase any wines, but I would love to go back here and taste and shop. The owners are so knowledgeable and kind... we were there until about 9:45pm (they close at 9!) and they were totally gracious and friendly to us the entire time. I highly recommend checking this place out. And, for anyone living in Long Beach (where I live), it's not far! About 10 miles from Belmont Heights... check them out!

I went to Off the Vine as soon as I turned 21 because I always had a curiosity about wine. I went into their shop with no clue what to expect. I found Michael and Alison were very welcoming and helpful. They were both very knowledgeable about the selection that they had to offer. They had a theme to their wine tasting but yet all the wines offered that day were different enough to give me a great start point in my wine knowledge. Michael was more than willing to answer my questions and share stories there were very intriguing. After meeting Michael for the first time, I sensed his enthusiasm for wine and his shop. I have since been back to their shop and my knowledge has done nothing but grown. This shop is the perfect place to entice your palette with different varieties of affordable wines while in a welcoming environment. I recommend this shop to anyone looking for a low key, unforgettable wine tasting experience.
